We had a get together in the LTC last week to play with some new tools. One of them was MODKIT, a new (still in beta) graphical programming for the Arduino. I had some issues causing me to restart the web programming page and the desktop software, but with a little futzing around I got this light sensor working.

Tonight was our second Making After Hours workshop at the Chatterbox Pub in St. Paul. The presenting artist was Margaret Pezalla-Granlund talking about folded structures. Some of the forms made by folks were amazing. Folding each shape it was a little like fighting with the paper. It would fuss and fight and curve where it was supposed to bend, and then all of a sudden, for a reason you can’t really explain, it would just give in and take shape. It was a small group, but that was probably for the best, it gave us more room to crawl and wrestle on the ground with the giant sheets of paper.
