Here’s my submission to MNKINO#24: Urban Legends. I took elements and styles from Shel Silverstein’s drawings to illustrate Jimmy Jet & His TV Set and synced it up with Shel reading the poem. Its Reading Rainbow’s take on Urban Legends.

This was a favorite restaurant growing up. Great Grandpa Francis would come down for our birthdays (just a day apart) to go here for dinner.

The organist plays sets during dinner ranging from old standards to broadway musicals. This was the first time I had seen this organist play; he was a few years younger than me and tended to stick to 90s Disney songs.

The organ itself has a huge collection of pipes as well as a number of other instruments and a flock of mallards. You can see everything listed out here: organpiperpizza.com/​wurlitzer.htm Unlisted, of course, are the chasing lights and American flag which is unfurled at the climax of most sets during some combination of America the Beautiful, 76 Trombones, or the Star Spangled Banner.

Summer Moon. Submitted for MNKINO23: Delirium

The film (my first actual film, film) was made using both black and clear 16mm leader and a variety of tools including bleach, drawing ink, sharpies, xacto blades, and dentist scraper things.

Both the title style and the song are borrowed from Kenneth Anger’s beautiful Rabbit’s Moon.
